🚀 The Proposal:
AURK's mission is to democratize AI development by providing tools that enable anyone, regardless of programming knowledge, to create AI agents and integrate them into web features like websites and apps. (This is a stronger, more concise statement of the mission.)
🤔 Challenge:
The primary challenge was balancing the inherent complexities of Web3 technology with the need for an exceptionally user-friendly platform. This required simplifying the process of AI agent creation while still offering robust functionality.
🎯 Key Objective:
The project's key objective was to design and develop a platform with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface for creating AI agents, making it accessible to non-programmers.
🛠️ Solution:
As Design Lead, acting as the primary product designer, I designed and helped implement a desktop-only platform that empowers users to create AI agents through a drag-and-drop interface. To minimize the learning curve, the UX was modelled after familiar desktop tools like Adobe products and online collaboration platforms like Miro.
You can access the marketplace via mobile, but the drag-and-drop is only accessible via desktop.

Following the initial mid-fidelity design phase, we conducted usability testing with a group of users using a Figma mockup & screen recordings. The feedback gathered from these sessions was then used to create an affinity map, which helped us identify key themes and areas for improvement.

⚙️ Design Process:
The design process followed a standard UX cycle:
Research, Ideation, Prototyping, and Testing. Testing included live tests with selected users, followed by an open beta and finally, the product launch.

💭 Ideation & Solution Hunting:
The initial phase focused on understanding the needs of non-programmers who wanted to leverage AI. We explored various approaches to simplifying AI agent creation and identified the drag-and-drop interface as the most promising solution.

User flow
🔬 Research & Synthesis:
Our research focused on understanding the target audience: entrepreneurs aged 18-45, tech-savvy but non-programmers. We delved into their specific needs, pain points, and motivations. Beyond demographics, we explored their psychographic profile, recognizing that these individuals are driven by a desire for innovation and self-reliance. This led us to leverage Jungian archetypes to gain deeper insights.
For persona development, we utilized Jungian psychology to identify the most resonant archetype for our target audience. The Explorer archetype emerged as the strongest fit. Explorers are characterized by their drive to discover new territories, seek unexplored solutions, and value freedom of movement. This archetype perfectly aligns with the entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to create something new. We then connected our user flows and marketing materials to this Explorer persona, ensuring that the platform resonated with their core values and aspirations. This understanding of the Explorer archetype directly influenced the design and functionality of AURK, specifically in the following key features:
🧩 Key Features:
Drag-and-drop AI agent creation tool: This feature empowers users to "explore" the possibilities of AI, experiment with different combinations, and "discover" new solutions without the limitations of coding. The intuitive interface provides the "freedom of movement" that the Explorer values.
Marketplace for AI agents (renting creations): The marketplace allows users to not only create but also share and monetize their creations. This taps into the Explorer's desire to "chart new territories" in the AI space and potentially generate income from their innovative solutions. It also fosters a sense of community and collaboration, where Explorers can share their discoveries.

🏗️ Architecture & UX Design:
Given the complexity of the drag-and-drop system and the need for ample workspace, we made the strategic decision to focus on a desktop platform. This allowed for a more comprehensive and intuitive user experience. The UX was designed to emulate familiar desktop and online tools to minimize the learning curve for non-programmers.
🎨 UI Design & Prototyping:
The UI design focused on clarity, simplicity, and ease of use. The drag-and-drop interface was meticulously crafted to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience. Prototypes were developed and rigorously tested to validate the design decisions.

🎉 Outcomes:
The platform launch was successful, with positive user feedback indicating that the project goals were achieved. Users found the drag-and-drop interface intuitive and easy to use. The next phase of development will focus on expanding the platform's functionalities.
